Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar unit; first-time travelers accepted License: Active nursing license Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Orientation hours: 24 EKG testing must be passed prior to start for this specialty. Must work holidays and weekends. Must be open to floating within the facility. Description: The registered nurse will be responsible for providing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients. The nursing unit focuses on a variety of patient diagnoses, including diabetes, dementia, respiratory issues, cardiovascular diseases, and post-operative care. Skills in the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias are critical for successful performance in this role. Experience with telemetry monitoring, bowel obstruction management, and feeding tube care is required. The nurse will be involved in blood product administration and hemodialysis management. PICC line management and starting IVs are essential skills for this position. Non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration should be familiar to all candidates. Wound care and the use of wound vacs will be part of everyday responsibilities. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Strong communication skills are essential for effective patient care and coordination. The ability to adapt to changing situations and patient needs is necessary. Nurses will participate in emergency response teams as needed. Candidates should be proficient in electronic documentation systems. Previous charge experience is preferred but not mandatory.
