The facility has 637 licensed beds and a Level 1 Trauma Designation. It is also a teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The unit has 35 beds with an average census of 35 patients. Patient types include those with acute or chronic diseases, post-operative surgeries, and common comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances. Patient ratios are RN: 1:4-6, LPN: 1:4-6, and CNA: 2-3 per shift. Required skills include strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing abilities. The candidate will perform patient care coordination with the interdisciplinary team. The role involves monitoring patients, managing treatments, and ensuring timely and appropriate care. Telemetry monitoring and interpretation are essential aspects of the position. The Registered Nurse will also participate in discharge planning and patient education. Support within the department includes CNAs who assist with vital signs, glucose checks, bathing, feeding, and ambulation of patients. There is a unit secretary available during operational hours. Resource and discharge nurses are available to assist as needed. There is a 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist team on-site. The facility utilizes an electronic medical record system and various medical equipment for patient care. The unit culture is team-oriented and fast-paced.
