Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a night shift float pool position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience.

Details

  • Float pool position within the Nursing department of a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital
  • Inpatient med surg and telemetry units with 20-36 beds each
  • Patient population includes acute/chronic disease, cardiac (post-cath, CHF, a-fib), and post-surgical (general, ortho, trauma) cases
  • RN patient ratio of 1:4-6
  • 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts per 6-week schedule
  • No on-call requirements
  • Required to float to all Med/Tele units and Baldwin as needed
  • EPIC EMR used
  • Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors used
  • Central telemetry monitoring unit with dedicated tech support
  • 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist support available
  • PICC team available; not a dedicated IV team

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred with EKG competency exam during onboarding
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • Minimum 12 months of core experience in unit specialty area within the last year
  • Experience with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and IV maintenance required
  • Tele skills required, including cardiac rhythm monitoring, post-cath and TR band management, and groin site management (no sheath pulls)
  • Experience titrating drips required: insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine
  • Strong assessment, time management, and care coordination skills required
  • Discharge planning knowledge and patient education skills required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, drip management, wound and device care, and discharge planning
  • Work alongside CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, and a dedicated resource/discharge nurse team
  • 1 day of facility orientation and 2 days of departmental orientation provided
  • Required to work one shift for each major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
  • RTO requests must be approved through the unit manager
  • Navy scrub color required for RNs
  • Free parking available on campus

  • Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position
