Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NIHSS certification on a 12-hour night shift schedule.

Details

• 27-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit with an average census of 20
• Common diagnoses include stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed
• RN patient ratio of 1:5-6 (up to 1:7-8 during surge staffing)
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) as needed, within scope of practice
• 24/7 support from phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and hospitalist staff
• Telemetry monitoring/tech support available
• Charge nurse may or may not carry a patient assignment
• EMR: Epic
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing via Omnicell
• Cardiac monitors by Philips

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele nursing experience required
• Proficiency in stroke assessments (NIH scale), chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley)
• Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
