Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Post Surgical Care unit within a 457-bed Trauma Level III teaching hospital
• 32-bed unit with RN to patient ratios of 1:4-6, with surge times up to 1:7-8
• Patient population includes general surgery, bariatric surgery, orthopedic, and post-surgical cases such as colectomy, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, hip fractures, and joint replacements
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) as needed, within scope of practice
• Remote telemetry monitoring support available
• Uses EPIC EMR, BD Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Masimo monitors

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Skills required include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, NG tubes, ostomy care, drain management, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a general surgical and post-surgical patient population
• Support staff includes 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, plus CNA support
• Travelers will be first to float to other nursing units based on staffing needs
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
