Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 18 months Med/Tele experience required License: Required Licenses Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset; Stroke experience; Cardiac rhythm interpretation; Trach care; PIV starts; Chest tube management; NGT placement; Drain/tube management; Foley insertion/management. Description: This facility has 457 licensed beds and is a Trauma Level III teaching hospital. The average daily census is 21 patients with a bed capacity of 23. Patient types and common diagnoses include chest pain, rule out stroke, syncope, dizziness, and respiratory illness. The RN to patient ratio is 1:4-5 during the night shift. CNA ratios are 1:10 at night. Skills required include monitoring cardiac drips, managing Heparin, administering blood products, and IV fluids. The unit is supported by a supervisor, a floating charge RN, and a hospitalist available 24/7. Support services such as respiratory therapy and phlebotomy are combined efforts. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. Travel nurses may be required to float to other nursing units based on patient care needs. They must demonstrate adaptability and clinical flexibility when floating to other units. All travelers will be required to float to regional facilities, as needed. Weekend rotation will be every other weekend, and holiday expectations require travelers to work 75% of holidays. Travelers may request up to 6 days off, excluding holidays. Travelers will be welcomed into a supportive department culture. Team activities such as book clubs and watching clubs are part of the department environment.
