Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift - 36 Shift Information: 1900-0700 Clinical Interviewing- Yes On Call, Call Back Requirements: None Weekend Rotation: EOW Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays Floating Requirements: Yes, to other MedSurg units About Facility:
  • 885 licensed beds
  • Level 1 Trauma Designation
  • Teaching Hospital: Yes, Academic Medical Center
  • Chest Pain Center
  • Stroke Center
Unit Information:
  • Beds: 24
Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years MST
  • Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes, dependent on experience. Must have a strong background in MST
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
  • General Medicine - DM, GI, Resp, Renal, Wounds/Dressing Changes, chest tubes, trachs, lab draws required
Patient Ratios:
  • RN: 5-6:1
  • CNA: 8:1
Required Licensure & Certifications:
  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
Skills required:

  • Chest tubes, traches, PIV starts, drain & tubes, PCA pumps
  • Gtts management – Amiodarone (occasionally), Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, Heparin
Support within the Department:
  • CNA: Duties – Provides basic nursing care to assigned patients and assist RN where needed
  • Receptionist/HUC
  • Charge nurse
  • Phlebotomy
  • IV/VAT Team: No
  • Rapid Response Team
  • RT 24/7
  • Hospitalist 24/7
  • Intensivist 24/7
  • Telemetry monitoring/tech: Centralized Telemetry
Technology/Equipment:
  • EMR: Epic
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
Floating: If yes, where:
  • Yes, to other MedSurg units
