Job Summary
Medical Surgical with Telemetry Nurse [Location]
This position involves providing specialized nursing care within a Neuro Telemetry unit at a short-term acute care facility. The role includes monitoring neurosurgical and neurologic patients, utilizing advanced telemetry skills, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Position Description: 1-year experience preferred; a minimum of 1 year experience in neuro or telemetry nursing is required. Valid license must be in hand and in the state of practice.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Responsibilities:
- Manage cardiac telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response or code situations.
- Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines.
- Titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, including heparin and other medications, as dictated by protocols.
- Provide oxygen therapy and manage airway using non-invasive techniques.
- Follow isolation precautions and use PPE properly.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including IV teams, respiratory services, and therapy departments.
- Document clinical data accurately using Epic electronic health record system.
- Uphold compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
- Additional Information:
- Unit primarily serves neurosurgical and neurological patients, including epilepsy monitoring, stroke, trauma, and neurosurgical cases.
- Responsible for caring for patients with diagnoses such as TIA/Stroke, epilepsy, and post-neurosurgical procedures.
- Close teamwork with physical, occupational, and speech therapies is essential.
- Requires flexibility to work holidays and to float between units when necessary.
- Candidate must include responses to employment history questions and provide two recent references covering the last year.
