Registered Nurse (RN) - MedSurg

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical (MedSurg) care is available. The role requires providing high-quality patient care within an acute care setting, focusing on delivering comprehensive services to medical surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a MedSurg unit, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols.
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes to the healthcare team.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on health conditions and post-discharge care.
• Participate in training and orientation for new staff and nurse aides.

Job Details

• Unit: Acute Care 3 (MedSurg)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year in a similar role with at least 1 travel assignment.

Qualifications

• Active BLS certification (AHA) required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• Previous experience with EMR systems, preferably Meditech, is advantageous.
• Ability to float to all acute care, cardiac, and emergency care as needed.

Work Schedule

• Shift hours: 7 AM to 7 PM, with weekend rotation required every other weekend.
• Holidays as needed.

Additional Information

• The unit consists of 44 beds with a staff of 40.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:5, possibly 1:6.
• Orientation includes 1 week of general training and 2 days of floor-specific orientation.
• Scrub color required: Caribbean Blue.
