Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

This position involves working with adult and geriatric patients in a general medical/surgical unit. Responsibilities include providing high-quality nursing care, managing patient needs, and collaborating with a healthcare team. The Registered Nurse will be part of an Inclement Weather Team and may be required to manage COVID patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adults and geriatrics with general medical/surgical conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including managing heparin drips and wound vac dressings.
• Utilize high flow oxygen and provide limited BiPap with respiratory support.
• Participate in patient care team meetings and contribute to care planning.
• Report and document patient progress using EPIC and SBAR communication methodologies.
• Be prepared to work on the Storm Team and Hurricane Team during extreme weather events or disasters.
• Work weekends and holidays as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• EHR experience with EPIC is necessary.
• Current BCLS certification is required.
• Preferred certifications include CPI and experience as a charge nurse.

Shift Details

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted.
• Traveler must be ready to rotate on-call if scheduled.

Unit Orientation

A 24-hour orientation will be provided to familiarize the staff with unit protocols and expectations.

Scrubs

Staff are required to provide their own navy scrubs.

Meeting Requirements

All contracted staff are expected to attend unit team meetings, scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of each month from January through October, and the third Wednesday in November and December. Additional meetings for night shift staff will occur the following Friday morning after the monthly meeting.
