Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a dedicated Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent patient care. This position entails working with general medical/surgical patients in a 15-bed unit designed for individuals ready for discharge from the emergency room but awaiting assignment to a specific unit.

Shift Information

• Shift: Day/Night Rotate
• Shift Length: 12 hours (0700-1930 or 1900-0730)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Work Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday

Responsibilities

• Perform initial admissions and provide comprehensive nursing care for patients until they are transferred to their designated unit.
• Utilize Epic for patient documentation and communication.
• Coordinate medication administration through Omnicell and manage IV therapies using Aleris IV pumps.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.
• Float to other medical/surgical units as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience.
• Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
• EPIC experience is preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA.
• Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced work environment.

Unit and Equipment Overview

The unit consists of 15 private rooms dedicated to medical/surgical patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 during the day and 6:1 at night. Equipment utilized includes Epic, Zebra phones for communication, Omnicell for medication management, and Aleris IV pumps.

Dress Code

The required dress code is navy blue scrubs.

Training and Orientation

The orientation program is designed for quick integration into a fast-paced, dynamic medical/surgical unit.
