Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Stroke Stepdown

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for our Medical Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing patients with stroke-related issues and other common medical diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a stepdown setting.
• Monitor and assess patients with various acute conditions including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, and pulmonary complications.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Utilize specialty equipment such as IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Float to other units as required based on patient needs.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with a focus on Medical Surgical and stroke stepdown.
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications are required (NIHSS certification can be obtained prior to the start date).
• Drivers license with an address that aligns with the demographic requirements.
• Documentation of travel experience in the nursing field.
• EMR experience, especially with EPIC, preferred.

Unit Information

The Medical Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit is designed for adults and consists of 64 beds. Common diagnoses include stroke, renal issues, COPD, CHF, and general medical-surgical cases.

Shift Details

This position requires night shifts (6:30 PM to 7:00 AM) with block scheduling not guaranteed. Flexibility to float to other units is required.

Attire

Navy blue scrubs are required while on duty.
