Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The RN will provide high-quality patient care on a medical surgical unit, focusing on diverse adult patient populations with a variety of medical conditions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from surgery and managing complications.
• Monitor patient vitals and assess medical conditions, including post-surgical recovery, abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and morbid obesity.
• Utilize specialty equipment such as IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes efficiently.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare team.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement patient care plans.
• Document all patient interactions and care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, specifically EPIC.
• Assist with patient education and discharge planning.
• Participate in the floating system as required by the facility.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical surgical setting.
• Current and unrestricted RN license in New York.
• Completion of a Nursing Licensure Compact (NURSYS) report for license verification.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong documentation skills and experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including 12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Willingness to float to other areas as needed.
• Active driver’s license with an address matching demographics.
