Medical Surgical - Neuro Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical - Neuro Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic neuro unit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in neuro care and be adaptable to various situations that may arise on the unit.

Job Details

  • Shift: 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
  • Contract Length: Options for 36 or 48-hour contracts accepted; longer contracts of 13-26 weeks are also available
  • Floating: Required
  • Weekend Requirement: 12-16 weekend shifts per contract
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Unit Systems: Familiarity with Pyxis, SBAR, and EPIC required

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing neuro surgical procedures and those with various neuro diagnoses. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer medications and monitor patient stability
  • Document patient information accurately and timely
  • Perform assessments and develop care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members
  • Participate in emergency response situations, including catastrophic events and mass casualties

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience is required. Neuro experience is preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications are preferred
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty.

Orientation

Participants will undergo 2 orientation shifts on the unit after completing the hospital-based orientation.

Uniform Requirements

Scrubs should be navy in color.
