Medical Surgical - Neuro Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical - Neuro. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to patients in a Neuro Unit. The RN will be expected to work collaboratively within a team to enhance patient outcomes and deliver high-quality nursing care.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care and assist with Neuro surgical procedures and diagnoses.
  • Participate in patient assessments and implement appropriate care plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using SBAR communication method.
  • Administer medications via Pyxis and document care using EPIC electronic health record.
  • Float to other units as necessary, maintaining flexibility in staffing needs.
  • Meet the weekend shift requirements as stipulated in the contract.
  • Respond appropriately to catastrophic events and participate in disaster preparedness initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
  • Prior experience in a Neuro unit is preferred, but first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
  • MUST pass EKG testing prior to start.

Contract Details

  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
  • Contracts available for 36 or 48 hours per week; longer contracts of 13-26 weeks accepted.
  • Weekend requirement: 12-16 weekends per contract.

Orientation

Two orientation shifts on the unit will be provided following hospital-based orientation.
