Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Oncology Registered Nurse to join our dynamic health team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in the oncology specialty, along with relevant certifications. This position involves providing compassionate care to patients experiencing acute oncology symptoms and advanced hematologic conditions.

Shift Details

  • Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Days: Every other weekend
  • Shift Length: 12 hours
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

  • Unit: Oncology - 7th Floor and Outpatient
  • Bed Capacity: 29 beds
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5, occasionally 1:6
  • Common Patient Diagnoses: Acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology conditions, medical overflow, oncology support, and end-of-life care
  • Electronic Medical Record System: Meditech
  • Nurse Aides: Generally 3 per day
  • Orientation: 3 days specific to the floor

Qualifications

  • Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years in oncology
  • Certification Requirements: BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred, ONS certification required for chemotherapy administration
  • Travel Experience: Must have completed at least 1 travel assignment
  • Float Requirement: Rarely to medical acute units
  • Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Required

Additional Information

It is essential that the candidate is able to provide a valid driver's license demonstrating a 75-mile radius from their residence to the facility. The caring team prioritizes high-quality patient care and supports ongoing education and professional development.

With responsibilities including patient assessment, care planning, and treatment implementation, the Oncology RN will play a crucial role in improving patient outcomes and ensuring a cohesive care experience.
