Med/Surg Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• At least 3 years of current or recent telemetry and/or stepdown nursing experience
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret telemetry; telemetry competency will be assessed during orientation
• Current Epic electronic medical record (EMR) proficiency; independent Epic proficiency is required
• Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend
• All requested time off must be disclosed during submission

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients, including patients requiring respiratory care
• Monitor patients using telemetry and promptly recognize and communicate changes in condition
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, administer medications, and implement individualized plans of care
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support quality patient outcomes
• Document accurately and efficiently in the Epic electronic medical record
• Float as needed to wound care, stroke, oncology, cardiac, observation, emergency department overflow, and other designated medical-surgical areas
• Promote patient safety, education, comfort, and continuity of care throughout the travel nursing assignment
