Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor RN Location: Not Specified. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care on a Medical Surgical unit, with a focus on managing patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain, COPD exacerbations, and other acute medical issues. The role requires collaboration with the healthcare team to deliver patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details
- Certifications: ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association) required; must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting.
- Education Requirements: Valid RN license, BSN or equivalent preferred.
- Location Requirements: Candidate must be licensed and able to work within the specified geographic area.
- Experience: 2 years of current Medical Surgical nursing experience.
- Schedule: Day shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Responsibilities include monitoring and titrating set rate drips such as analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives; reading telemetry strips; and managing patient care for diverse medical conditions.
- Additional details include self-scheduling and block scheduling; a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule; holiday requirements; floating within Zone 1 as needed; and unit-specific orientation during the week of start date.
- Required certifications at the time of submission: ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association).
- Charting system utilized: EPIC.
- BSN is not required but preferred.
- Emergency preparedness such as handling ventilators (Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, vents) is part of the role.
- Nurse to patient ratios: 1:4 on the unit, with nurse aides assigned at a 1:5 ratio.
- Telemetry monitors are used, and RNs are required to read their own strips.
- Charge nurse responsibilities are included in the role.
