Registered Nurse - Mother Baby

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Mother Baby unit works collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care. This role involves assessing patient needs, implementing care plans, and providing education to patients and their families.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Montana Licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • STABLE certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, with recertification required every 2 years
  • Willingness and ability to practice modified primary nursing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Labor and Delivery (L&D) including Antepartum, Intrapartum, Preoperative, Circulation, and PACU

Essential Job Functions

  • Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health and situation (Assessment)
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis)
  • Identify expected outcomes for individualized patient care plans (Plan of Care)
  • Implement the identified plan of care
  • Promote health and maintain a safe environment for patients
  • Enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice
  • Evaluate nursing practice according to professional standards and regulations
  • Contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Integrate ethical provisions in all areas of nursing practice
  • Incorporate research findings into nursing practice
  • Provide leadership within the professional practice setting

Stroke Competency Requirements

  • Complies with protocols related to the care of patients with acute stroke
  • Participates in cerebrovascular disease education within the first year of hire
  • Completes annual education on cerebrovascular disease

Schedule Requirements

This role requires regular attendance and may involve working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

  • Lifting: Ability to exert force while lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Sitting: Ability to maintain a seated position for extended periods
  • Standing: Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Walking: Requires good balance and coordination in movement
  • Climbing: Rarely ascends or descends using feet and legs
  • Twisting/Bending/Stoops/Kneeling: Requires flexibility and range of motion
  • Reaching Above Shoulder Level: Ability to lift and position objects above shoulder height
  • Pushing/Pulling: Requires use of upper extremities to exert force
  • Fine Finger Movements: Continuous use of fingers for tasks
  • Vision: Close visual acuity for monitoring and analyzing data
  • Cognitive Skills: Continuously learns new tasks and makes timely decisions
  • Exposures: Continuous exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and potentially hazardous materials
