Contract | Nights | Every other weekend required (Fri & Sat for nights) | Holiday rotation with permanent staff
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to Labor and Delivery patients in a high-volume birthing center averaging 170–190 births per month, caring for patients 32 weeks and above including high-risk, preeclampsia, diabetic, and complex psychosocial cases
- Independently attend deliveries and circulate in C-section OR suites; assist with catching and transitioning newborns
- Titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin per unit protocols
- Function in both Labor and Delivery and Postpartum settings, including routine mother-baby couplet care and low-risk deliveries; Postpartum and newborn transition competencies required
- Utilize the Centricity Perinatal EFM system and Epic EMR; follow AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines (1:2 L&D, 1:3–4 couplets)
- Participate in block scheduling when requested; adhere to a 45-minute standby response time when placed on call
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of LDRP experience — first-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- BLS certification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Demonstrated ability to attend deliveries independently and circulate in C-sections
- Comfortable assisting with newborn delivery, catching, and transition
- Must be adaptable to unit-specific workflows, policies, procedures, and feedback
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Intermediate or advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification preferred
- Experience with high-risk obstetric populations including preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and patients with substance use
- Familiarity with Centricity Perinatal EFM systems and Epic EMR
- Experience in both Labor and Delivery and Postpartum/Mother-Baby settings
