Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit serving a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and community care patients
- Circulate in the OR — required skillset; candidates must be able to perform this function
- Function as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continued newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections (thighs), and newborn assessments until transfer to postpartum
- Administer and monitor high-acuity medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Utilize EPIC and perform electronic fetal monitoring; staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- Float as needed to Postpartum and Antepartum, including potential float to sister facilities that support Mother/Baby care
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license; compact license must be in hand at time of submission
- BLS certification required
- NRP certification required
- Minimum of 3–5 years of Labor & Delivery experience in a high-acuity, high-paced environment, with at least 2 years in a high-risk setting
- Demonstrated ability to circulate in the OR and provide full newborn care including eye prophylaxis, Vitamin K injections, and newborn assessments — required skills, no exceptions
- Must live within 50 miles of the facility to be considered a local candidate; locals are welcome to apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 5 or more years of high-risk Labor & Delivery experience strongly preferred
- ACLS certification preferred
- AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
- Experience with electronic fetal monitoring and EPIC EMR
