Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery (LDRP)

Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, start time 6:45 AM/PM | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation with staff
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care across a high-acuity LDRP unit managing labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum patients from start to finish
- Circulate C-sections — all RNs on this unit are required to circulate cesarean sections
- Titrate drips including Pitocin and manage patients with common diagnoses such as preterm labor, bleeding, inductions, hypertension, and cesarean sections
- Read and interpret EKG strips for mothers in the PACU setting; utilize GE Corometric monitors with Fetalink surveillance for electronic fetal monitoring
- Float to Mother-Baby (MB) unit as needed; rare mid-shift float to other area facilities may occur
- Respond within 30 minutes when placed on call; may be assigned the NRP/Baby Catcher role for an entire shift as staffing requires
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in the state of California
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
- Must be comfortable in all aspects of LDRP care including circulating C-sections and floating to Mother-Baby
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility within the CommonSpirit health system, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms may be considered
Preferred Experience / Skills
- STABLE program certification preferred
- Prior experience in a high-volume Labor and Delivery setting (unit delivers approximately 140–165 births per month)
- Familiarity with AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines and antepartum patient management
- Experience working alongside OB surgical techs and OB hospitalist teams
