Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery / OB Acute & Postpartum

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | Every 3rd Weekend (Fri/Sat) | Every Other Holiday
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborn infants within a unit that includes LDR rooms, OR suites, triage rooms, and private postpartum rooms
- Perform required assessments and deliver care to postpartum patients following AWHONN guidelines at a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Titrate and manage drips including insulin and heparin per physician orders
- Collaborate with a 24/7 charge RN, house supervisor, labor hospitalist, and newborn hospitalist team to ensure patient safety and continuity of care
- Float within the Family Birthing Center, including Women's Care Unit (antepartum and women's surgeries) and L&D, assisting with recoveries and patient support as needed
- Document and manage patient care using the Epic EFM system
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
- Demonstrated experience with postpartum patient care and required nursing assessments
- Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the standard contract rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification
- Lactation education and support experience
- Level 2 Nursery experience
- Familiarity with AWHONN fetal monitoring standards and telemetry (Philips monitors)
