Description:
The role involves working in a high-risk unit with couplet care.
Candidates must be willing to handle all aspects of labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care.
Successful candidates will circulate C-sections and must feel comfortable with the associated responsibilities.
The unit has 10 labor and delivery beds, 2 operating room suites for C-sections, and 12 postpartum beds.
Monthly births range from 140 to 165.
Ratios are 1:3-4 for couplets and 1:1 to 1:2 for labor and delivery.
Titrating drips, such as Pitocin, is required.
Charge nurse responsibilities and house supervisor duties may need to be filled as necessary.
OB surgical techs are available for support on the unit.
An OB hospitalist is present 24/7, with a neonatologist on call.
Anesthesia coverage is also available continuously.
All RNs must read and interpret EKG strips for mothers in the post-anesthesia care unit.
The electronic fetal monitoring system is utilized for monitoring.
RNs are scheduled for 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 PM with bedside report.
Floating to other facilities may occur, but mid-shift floats are rare.
Scrubs will be provided for staff.
Cancellation policy may apply during the assignment duration.
Charting is done using the Cerner system.
