Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Family Birthing Center (Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Obstetrics) Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN-Advanced (STABLE preferred) Must-Have: Must be able to circulate C-sections and float to mother-baby unit Description: Unit is a high-risk area with couplet care. Candidates must be willing to perform all duties from start to finish. RNs are required to circulate C-sections and feel comfortable in all aspects of labor and delivery. There are 10 labor and delivery beds and 12 postpartum beds. The unit handles 140-165 births monthly. Patient ratios follow guidelines, with couplet care ratios of 1:3-4 and labor/delivery ratios of 1:1 to 1:2. Candidates must be able to float to mother-baby unit and circulate C-sections. RNs will be able to titrate drips, including Pitocin. The unit has OB surgical techs available. A hospitalist is in-house 24/7, with a neonatologist on-call 24/7 and rounding daily. RNs must be able to read and interpret EKG strips in specific situations. Fetal monitors are used for surveillance. Shifts begin at 6:45 PM with report at the bedside. Some floating to other facilities may occur, but in-house floating is rare. Scrubs are provided. Cancellation policy allows for a limited number of shifts to be canceled during a contract. Charting is done using a specific system. No BSN requirement. This is an acute care setting. All candidates must meet the licensing and certification requirements listed.
