Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced FHM, MOAB Must-Have: Experience in charge nurse capacity Completed at least 1 assignment at a comparable facility Description: A registered nurse is needed for the Labor and Delivery unit. This position requires a willingness to work in a charge capacity as needed. The average number of deliveries per year is approximately 1800. The unit has seven labor rooms and two triage rooms. Patients may present with various diagnoses such as PIH, GDM, pre-eclampsia, and postpartum hemorrhage. Nursing ratios may vary: 1:1 for cervical ripening and active labor, and up to 1:3 for laboring patients. The unit's minimum staffing goal is six RNs, day and night. Required skills include the ability to titrate Pitocin and manage insulin and magnesium drips. Knowledge of neonatal resuscitation and lactation support is essential. The nurse will collaborate with anesthesia, house supervisors, and mid-level providers. Fetal monitoring technology is used at the bedside and in the nurses' station. RNs may float to patient areas such as postpartum and antepartum if necessary. Weekend and holiday rotations will be part of the schedule.
