Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Sheboygan Wisconsin 53081
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 12hr Night Shift (36)
Shift Information: Weekend program 19-07
Clinical Interviewing- Yes - manager will conduct second interview
On Call, Call Back Requirements: 6-7 four-hour blocks per 6-week schedule
Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend or potentially every 3rd weekend
Holiday Requirements: Holiday Rotations required
Floating Requirements: No floating

About Facility:
- 131 Beds
- Level IV Trauma Center
- Primary Stroke Center
Unit Information:
- Beds:
- LDRP: 12
- 2 triage rooms
- 2 ORs
- 10 bed Level II NICU
- Census: 60-80 births per month on average
Minimum Years of Experience required:
- RN: 2 years LDRP experience
- OB Surg Tech: 2 years surg tech experience and competent with c-sections and OB procedures
- Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- 32 weeks and above
- Majority of patients are lower risk
- Hypertension, magnesium administration, medication management for substance abuse, epidurals, elevated BMI, diabetes
- Post delivery will stay in the same room. RN will continue care post-delivery
- Post-women s surgeries (preferred experience)
Patient Ratios:
- 1:1 laboring
- 1:2 active labor
- 1:3 couplets
Required License/Certification:
- RN: BLS, NRP, intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring
- Surg Tech: BLS, CST not required.
Skills required:
- RN: Cervical exams, amnio infusions, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IVs starts/management, Pitocin, baby catching/receiving, APGAR, basic breastfeeding education. Need to be comfortable with all aspects of post-Partum care from transition to discharge for mom and baby.
- Surg Tech: proficient with c-sections, assisting with vaginal deliveries, CNA type tasks (stocking rooms, helping patients with ADLS, etc.), assisting with newborn care 24h post-delivery, OBGYN surgeries (occasional tubal ligation), knowledge of aseptic surgical technique and preps of material, supplies, and equipment for surgery.
- Soft skills: basic computer proficiency, customer service/interpersonal skills.
Support within the Department:
- 2 Techs
- HUC - no
- Charge nurse – will take patients
- Phlebotomy
- L&D Anesthesia always on call for L&D
- NNP 24/7
- OBGYNs always on call, not necessarily on the unit 24/7
- RT 24/7
- Management available during the day
- Hospitalist 24/7
- 1 lactation consultant there during the day – will meet with every patient before discharge
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC – preferred for RNs
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Pyxis
- Monitors: QS Centricity
Floating: If yes, where:
Orientation (facility and unit) :
- NEO
- 1-2 days unit orientation, depending on comfortability
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every 4 th weekend
- On call: Yes, for OB Surg Techs
- 4-6 shifts in a six-week period, overnight call only
- 30-minute response time
- Holiday Expectations: every other
- RTO: ok to be approve 7 days
- Shift times:
- Schedule cycle: Lead RN makes schedule, 6 weeks at a time, receive 2 weeks prior to schedule beginning
