Labor and Delivery Nurse

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a Level II Perinatal Center, managing a variety of patient types and common diagnoses. This position requires commitment to quality care in a collaborative and supportive environment.

About the Facility

Location: Puyallup, WA

• Licensed Beds: 375
• Unit Information:
  • 9 Labor and Delivery Rooms
  • 2 OB Operating Rooms
  • 2 OB PACU Beds
  • 11 Level II NICU Beds
  • 4 Pediatric Beds
  • 20-bed Mother/Baby Unit
  • 18-bed START Unit for Perinatal Addiction
  • 3 OB Emergency Department Beds (20 weeks and above)

Patient Care and Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients 32 weeks and above, including those with hypertension and substance abuse needs.
• Administer epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV medications, and Pitocin as per protocols.
• Deliver antepartum and postpartum care, ensuring smooth transitions for both mothers and babies.
• Monitor and assess fetal health during active labor and manage non-active labor patients according to AWHONN and NANN guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience required.
• Valid BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certifications (AWHONN or Relias module) required.
• Strong labor and delivery experience, including cervical exams, amnio infusion, and IV skills.
• Ability to provide couplet care for stable mother-baby pairs.

Support and Resources

• Support available from surgery techs and phlebotomy during designated hours.
• 24/7 availability of respiratory therapy for high-risk deliveries.
• Assignments within the department will include labor and delivery, as well as mother/baby care.

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation: Every other weekend.
• Shifts: Available in both day (0700-1900) and night (1900-0700) schedules.
• Orientation includes core competencies and unit-specific training.
