Travel RN – Cardiac Med Intermediate (Stepdown) – Nights

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights (19:00–07:30) | 16-Week Assignment | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every other weekend required | No call requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to perform direct patient care activities for all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation on a 32-bed Cardiac Stepdown unit
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort for a patient population that includes post-op CABG/Valve, Thoracotomies, Respiratory Failure, and Chest Pain
- Operate and manage unit-specific equipment including chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
- Float as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable nursing practice standards
- Document and manage care using EPIC EMR
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold a Missouri RN license
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) — required
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) — required
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Stepdown experience in an inpatient setting
- Flu vaccination (or facility-approved exemption) required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Must be available the full orientation week; night shift orients on day shift
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAP management
- Familiarity with post-surgical cardiac patient populations (CABG, valve repair, thoracotomy)
- Strong team-player mindset with a commitment to promoting a positive unit culture
