Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a critical care step-down setting serving adult acute care patients requiring a higher level of monitoring than a general medical-surgical floor
- Manage patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7 in a MedSurg/step-down environment, adapting quickly to varying patient acuity and needs
- Perform continuous telemetry and pulse-oximetry monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and participation in Rapid Response and Code team activations
- Provide IV therapy and phlebotomy services including peripheral line care and management; support patients with arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
- Deliver respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, non-invasive airway management, and acute BIPAP support
- Maintain strict isolation precautions and apply evidence-based, multidisciplinary care practices across a diverse patient population received from the ED, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State RN license required and must be in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required — must be included at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in a relevant specialty
- EPIC electronic health records experience is a hard requirement
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in an intermediate care, step-down, PCU, or telemetry unit setting
- Familiarity with caring for patients requiring BIPAP, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV infusions
- Experience floating within a hospital system
