    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts | Nights | Every third weekend; every other holiday

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a Step Down/PCU setting managing a diverse patient population including sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical patients (urology, abdominal, ortho)
    • Initiate and titrate drips including insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips
    • Perform telemetry interpretation; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency tests
    • Document accurately using Epic; a checkoff class will be required upon start
    • Float within skillset as first to float; potential cross-campus float with a minimum 2-hour notice given
    • May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
    Required Qualifications
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of Step Down/PCU experience
    • At least 1 prior travel assignment required
    • Current active compact RN license required
    • AHA BLS certification required
    • AHA ACLS certification required
    • NIHSS certification required
    • Recent Epic charting experience required
    • Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, and blood product administration
    • Experience with stable home vents, continuous BiPAP, and neutropenic precautions
    • Familiarity with stable drip management (e.g., Lasix, Protonix)
    • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills; adaptable, resilient, and team-oriented
