    Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit

    Location

    Henderson, KY | Step Down / Telemetry Unit

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a Step Down / PCU setting managing conditions such as sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical patients (urology, abdominal, ortho)
    • Initiate and titrate drips including insulin, heparin, and cardiac medications
    • Perform telemetry interpretation; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency tests
    • Float within skillset as first to float on the same campus; cross-campus float to nearby Indiana facilities is possible with a minimum 2-hour notice provided
    • Adhere to a weekend rotation of every third weekend and every other holiday
    • May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
    Required Qualifications
    • Active, current compact RN license
    • AHA BLS certification required
    • AHA ACLS certification required
    • NIHSS certification required
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 solid year of Step Down / PCU experience and at least 1 prior travel assignment
    • Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
    • Must live more than 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, and blood product administration
    • Experience with stable home vents, continuous BiPAP, and Neutropenic precautions
    • Familiarity with stable drip management (e.g., Lasix, Protonix)
    • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills; ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
