    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit (IMC/PCU/Stepdown – Cardiac/Neuro)

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | 36 Guaranteed Hours per Week | Three weekends per six-week schedule; every other holiday

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a blended stepdown/medical-surgical telemetry unit (19 beds) serving cardiac and neurological patient populations
    • Monitor and manage post-procedure cardiac patients including cath/stents/interventions, pacers, ICDs, and ablations, as well as identification and care of STEMI/NSTEMI
    • Perform telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency tests
    • Initiate and titrate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitroglycerin, Insulin, and Heparin
    • Conduct NIHSS assessments and strong neurological assessments for patients including CVA, seizure, and possible TBI presentations
    • Float within skillset to sister campuses with a minimum of 2 hours notice; may precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
    Required Qualifications
    • Current, active Compact RN License required
    • AHA BLS certification required
    • AHA ACLS certification required
    • NIHSS certification required
    • Minimum 2 years of solid stepdown experience plus at least 1 travel contract, OR 5 years of solid stepdown experience with no travel experience
    • Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
    • Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with post heart cath care including femoral and TR band management
    • Proficiency with chest tube management and peripheral IV insertion
    • Experience caring for sepsis, DKA, and carotid endarterectomy patients
    • Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills in a high-acuity blended unit environment
