Key Responsibilities Deliver highly individualized intermediate care to medical, cardiac, and surgical complex patients including those with sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, DKA, CVA, GI bleed, respiratory failure, and post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients. Contract | 13 Weeks | Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Expected 48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver highly individualized intermediate care to medical, cardiac, and surgical complex patients including those with sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, DKA, CVA, GI bleed, respiratory failure, and post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
• Perform Q6H head-to-toe assessments with full documentation in Meditech
• Manage and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetalol, Insulin, and Precedex
• Perform and assist with unit procedures including IV insertion, Foley placement, DHT/NG placement, chest tube management, CVC management, wound vac management, EKGs, DKA management, and patient ambulation
• Utilize iMobile devices for encrypted communication with care team members, chart review via Patient Keeper, and wound documentation via wound care app
• Participate in self-scheduling within unit guidelines; expected to complete 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; travel RNs float before core staff on a rotating basis by oldest float date

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure applicable to the state of Tennessee
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Proficiency with advanced skills: IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion and management, tracheostomy care, CVC management, EKG interpretation, Foley management, and early patient mobility
• Experience with Meditech documentation system preferred; must be adaptable to electronic health record systems

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Cardiac and/or telemetry nursing experience
• PCU, stepdown, or critical care/ICU experience
• Familiarity with Phillips telemetry systems and Alaris infusion pumps
• Experience caring for post-cardiac catheterization, post-CABG, or post-aortic valve surgery patients
