Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Cardiac/telemetry experience, and PCU and/or critical care experience Description: The Progressive Care Unit delivers highly individualized care to medical, cardiac, and surgical complex patients requiring intermediate care. Patients commonly present with conditions such as sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, angina, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, heart blocks, and post-operative care. The unit performs Q6H head-to-toe assessments and documents each one fully. Advanced skills needed include IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion/management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, and Foley management. Common procedures performed in the unit include Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, and activities of daily living (ADLs). Staff members work together to deliver exceptional care to patients and their families. The team embodies a commitment to high patient satisfaction ratings and quality metrics. Self-scheduling is available, allowing staff to balance their schedules while meeting unit needs. Resources are present on both day and night shifts for any questions or assistance needed.
