Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care / Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. Patient ratio 1:3 for IMC level care. 36-hour orientation provided.

Highlights:

  • Work in a Magnet-designated academic medical center and Level I Trauma facility
  • Provide specialized care on a 29-bed progressive care unit serving telemetry, oncology, cardiac, thoracic, and post-transplant patient populations
  • Care for patients with complex diagnoses including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant
  • Utilize Epic EMR system in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with strong interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Opportunities to work with ventilated patients, cardiac drips, telemetry monitoring, and post-transplant care
  • Travel assignment with comprehensive orientation and team integration

Requirements:

  • Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years
  • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
  • Telemetry oncology, cardiac experience required
  • Ventilator and transplant care experience required
  • Academic Level I or II trauma center experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Must successfully pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (80% passing score with specific criteria for lethal rhythms and heart blocks)
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
