Contract | Days | Rotating shifts available; scheduling options may include straight nights, rotating shifts, or blocked scheduling (e.g., 1 week orientation, 7 weeks of days, 6 weeks of nights) | Every other weekend and every other holiday expected
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient-centered care on a combined 30-bed medical-surgical and 8-bed progressive care unit managing diagnoses such as pneumonia, COPD, CHF, pulmonary embolism, and COVID-19
- Perform and monitor advanced respiratory interventions including BiPAP, CPAP, heated high-flow oxygen, oxygen titration, non-invasive ventilation, and mechanical ventilation
- Administer and monitor intravenous medications, moderate sedation during bronchoscopies, and manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, and postoperative care
- Utilize Epic for clinical documentation, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, and Acudose for medication administration
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including case managers, social workers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists, and specialty providers
- Float to Med-Surg units as needed; travelers may be the first to be reassigned to another department based on census
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in South Dakota or a compact state
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, medical-surgical patient care, and respiratory support modalities (BiPAP, CPAP, heated high-flow, oxygen titration, moderate sedation)
- Candidates must badge in and out at the facility each shift
- Navy blue scrubs required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Specialty nursing certification (e.g., Progressive Care Nursing or Medical-Surgical Nursing)
- Prior experience in a progressive care or intermediate care (IMC) setting
- Familiarity with Epic EMR, Alaris infusion pumps, and Acudose medication systems
