Registered Nurse – ICU/PCU Float

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Key Responsibilities
- Float between ICU and PCU units based on staffing needs, which are re-evaluated every 4 hours; candidates must be comfortable working all ICU and PCU units
- Provide direct patient care in the ICU at an average 2:1 ratio and PCU at an average 5:1 ratio
- Manage ventilated patients and provide respiratory support including BiPAP and CPAP management
- Administer and titrate continuous IV sedation, cardiac drips, and vasoactive medications; manage arterial lines, central/PICC lines, and blood product administration
- Perform cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Adhere to IV insulin protocols and provide wound care including surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia State RN license or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Demonstrated ICU clinical experience at a large Level I or Level II facility required
- Must be willing to work at least one holiday per 13-week contract assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible; candidates residing within 50–99.9 miles may be considered for a single 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2 or more years of ICU nursing experience preferred
- Experience in a Magnet-designated or academic teaching hospital environment
- Familiarity with advanced stroke care protocols, including thrombectomy-capable stroke center standards
