    Job Title

    Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU

    Location

    Kearney, NE | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Days | Onsite | Shifts: 0630–1830 and 1830–0630 | Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday) | Minimum of 2 holidays required within contract timeframe

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed ICU with an average daily census of 16, managing common diagnoses including trauma, cardiac conditions, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, respiratory distress, overdose/substance abuse, post-stent, pacemaker placement, vascular cases, and heart failure
    • Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3 for adult patients
    • Titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
    • Read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment; tele tech oversight is also in place
    • Manage patients on respiratory support ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
    • Float as needed, typically to PCU and occasionally to MedSurg, maintaining the standard ratio assigned on those units (1:4 or 1:5)
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN license in good standing
    • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
    • Must successfully pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% (administered on Wednesdays); failure to pass will result to contract termination
    • Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
    • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
    • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates may not currently be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior ICU travel nursing experience
    • Experience managing a broad range of critical care diagnoses including cardiac, neurological, and trauma patients
    • Familiarity with GE cardiac monitoring systems
