Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) Critical Care – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shifts, 8 or 12-hour shifts (1900-0730), every other weekend and some holidays required. Four 12-hour shifts available if preferred. Block scheduling likely to accommodate.

Highlights:
  • Work in a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma Center ranked #1 in Wisconsin
  • Float to multiple ICU specialties including Neuro ICU, Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, Trauma, Medical-Surgical ICU, and Progressive Care units
  • Epic EMR experience required with 28 hours of orientation provided
  • Patient ratios of 3:1 for both day and night shifts
  • Academic learning environment with shared governance opportunities
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Requirements:
  • Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact state license
  • Minimum 5 years of critical care nursing experience required
  • At least 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in specialty area
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
  • Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start date (strict passing criteria applies)
  • Competency in multiple ICU specialties including cardiovascular, neuro, trauma, medical-surgical, and burn critical care
  • Experience with advanced skills including ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT, vasoactive drip titration, central line management, and complex critical care procedures
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
