Job Summary
Join our dedicated nursing team as a Registered Nurse in a combined 16-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Intermediate Care (IMC) unit located in Ithaca, New York. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-acuity bedside patient care to a diverse population of critically ill individuals.
The unit maintains an average daily census of 8 patients, ensuring focused and comprehensive care delivery. Nurses benefit from supportive patient-to-nurse ratios, with 1:2 for ICU patients and 1:3 for IMC patients, fostering an environment where quality patient outcomes are prioritized.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, comprehensive bedside nursing care to critically ill and high-acuity patients within the ICU and IMC settings.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to interventions.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and manage medical equipment according to physician orders and hospital policies.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Initiate and manage life-saving interventions during emergent situations.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Relevant experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Intermediate Care (IMC) setting.
- Proficiency with Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

- Clinical Skills: Critical care monitoring, ventilator management, IV insertion, medication administration, arterial line management, central line care, titrating vasoactive drips, wound care.

Licensing Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA preferred).
