Description:
This position is for a Registered Nurse in a High Acuity Float Pool, specializing in ICU care.
The nurse will work 12-hour day shifts with a minimum of three weekend shifts required.
The nurse will be responsible for handling patients in critical care, observation, medical-surgical, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, short-stay surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, oncology, telemetry, and progressive care.
Patient ratios typically range from 1-2, depending on the acuity of the assignment.
On occasion, the nurse may have 1-3 patients if the acuity is lower or if there are transfer orders.
The nurse is required to have skills in ICU and should be comfortable with various titratable and set rate drips.
Charge nurses will not take an assignment but will manage the unit.
Nurse aids are available, with typically 1-2 per shift based on daily census.
The unit is equipped with RT equipment, including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP.
RNs are responsible for reading strips using Phillips monitors, with at least one monitoring tech available.
Self-scheduling is permitted for shifts.
There is a weekend work requirement and holiday shifts may also be required.
Call or standby is not necessary.
Assignments will be created by the charge RN, with nurses choosing from available options at the start of each shift.
The dress code is royal blue.
