Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with ventilated patients Cath lab recovery Therapeutic hypothermia Description: Responsible for providing high-level care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. The unit typically has 10 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 2:1 in the ICU. Common diagnoses include COVID, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, sepsis, and DKA. Nurses are required to titrate drips such as sedation, pressors, and diuretics. Charge nurses are present for 24 hours. Remote monitoring technicians support the unit, but nurses must read their own telemetry strips. The department operates under a centralized scheduling system. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holidays will be rotated with permanent staff. Nurses may be required to float between units as needed. Professional scrubs in any color are acceptable. The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts as outlined in policies. Charting is conducted using an electronic medical record system.
