Description

Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - RN's must pass a written exam during orientation. - RN's must remove artificial nails as required by policy. - RN's must be able to titrate drips as needed. Description: The ICU unit has 33 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:2-3 for adults. Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose, substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips. Nurse aides are available based on census and may assist on the floor as needed. Respiratory therapy equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPap, and high flow are present. RNs must troubleshoot respiratory equipment as needed. Self-scheduling is allowed for core staff, but block scheduling may not be guaranteed. Floating typically occurs to the progressive care unit and occasionally to medical-surgical units, maintaining similar patient ratios. A minimum of 2 holiday shifts is required within the contract timeframe. Weekend work is required every other weekend. RTO must be provided upfront, and additional requests may not be approved.
