Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
Failure to remove nails will lead to termination of contract.
RN's must pass a weekly exam during orientation.
This will be an open book exam based on skills learned.
Candidates must receive 90% or higher to pass or they will be terminated.
Description:
This is a nursing position in an Intensive Care Unit.
The unit has 33 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3 for adults.
Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac conditions, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress.
RNs are required to titrate various drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation.
Nurse aides are present based on census and may assist on the floor as needed.
Healthcare Support Technicians are available three days per week.
RNs are responsible for troubleshooting respiratory equipment as necessary.
Shift hours are from 0630-1830 and 1830-0630.
Self-scheduling is allowed for core staff.
Travelers may be added to the schedule, but block scheduling cannot be guaranteed.
RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips.
Floating may occur to the Progressive Care Unit or MedSurg, maintaining the same patient ratios.
Minimum holiday requirement is two holidays within the contract time frame.
Weekend requirement includes every other weekend.
Requests for time off must be made upfront, and additional time off will not be approved.
The charting system used is electronic.
A BSN is not required for this position.
This is an acute care setting.
Candidates must have the ability to work with critical patients in a fast-paced environment.
