Description:
This position is for an ICU Registered Nurse.
The facility has a Level II Trauma Center designation.
The unit has 14 beds with an average daily census.
Patient types include general medical cases such as sepsis, pneumonia, and respiratory failure.
Cardiac cases include CHF, STEMI/NSTEMI, and post-cath patients.
Trauma patients may include gunshot wounds and fall-related injuries.
Surgical patients will include GYN and GI cases.
Neuro cases involve subdural hematomas and traumatic brain injuries.
Patient ratios typically range from 1:1 to 1:3.
In situations with more than 2 patients, team nursing with experienced medical-surgical RNs is practiced.
Long-term vented patients will be managed by the ICU RN.
Required support includes a charge RN available to take patient assignments.
There is additional support from nursing assistants and monitoring staff.
Respiratory therapy and hospitalists are available 24/7.
The nursing environment includes the use of EMR systems.
Required technology includes IV pumps and medication dispensing systems.
Travelers may need to float to other areas within their scope of practice.
The schedule includes every other weekend rotation and 1 holiday per contract.
The dress code is professional solid-colored scrubs without graphics or logos.
The unit culture emphasizes collaboration and support among staff.
