Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 15 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years critical care experience required. License: Compact license accepted. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS preferred. Must-Have: - Experience in high-volume, high-acuity settings. - Experience in teaching and trauma facilities. - Epic charting system experience required. Description: The position involves caring for patients in the Intensive Care Unit with a focus on cardiology. Nurses will manage cardiac ICU patients and overflow from other units, including MICU, Trauma ICU, and Neuro ICU. Travelers must be flexible to meet unit needs, particularly regarding weekend coverage. Ratios are set at 1 nurse to 2 patients. Self-scheduling is not available. Candidates may be required to float to other units. The department will accommodate block scheduling requests, but it cannot guarantee flexible scheduling. Nurses are expected to implement various skills, including care of ventilated patients, managing central lines, and monitoring critical conditions. Experience in using specialized equipment and managing complex patient care is essential. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. Unit staffing is supported by interdisciplinary services such as physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
