Intermediate Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) seeks a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care to patients within a critical and complex healthcare environment. The position requires the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including days and nights, with every other weekend commitment. Nurses may float to the neuro ICU floor as required.

Unit Information

• 18 intermediate care beds
• 18 general neuroscience beds

Patient Population

The unit cares for patients requiring advanced monitoring and intervention, including:

• Arterial lines
• External ventricular drains (EVDs)
• Lumbar drains
• Post-operative day zero neuro cases
• Acute thrombectomies
• Administration of TPA
• Vasoactive infusions

Patient Ratio

The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3, ensuring personalized and effective care.

Qualifications

• Current MA RN License required at the time of submission
• 3+ years of related work experience in a similar environment required
• Experience with EVDs, lumbar drains, and arterial lines is mandatory
• CPR-AHA and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Ability to navigate basic web-based applications

Additional Information

Orientation for new hires occurs weekly, and candidates are encouraged to provide availability for interviews at the time of submission. Local candidates, defined as those residing within 50 miles of the facility, are not eligible for this position, as a separation period of six months from previous employment is required.
