Job Summary

The Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for providing safe, effective, high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

The RN provides patient-centered, culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care while serving as a patient advocate and promoting optimal clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments of ICU patients.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
  • Monitor patient conditions and recognize changes in clinical status.
  • Provide direct nursing care based on patient needs and the interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with ICU equipment, instrumentation, and technology.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment, medications, and ongoing care needs.
  • Evaluate patient responses to treatment and modify the plan of care as appropriate.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks according to team members' scope of practice and competencies.
  • Supervise and evaluate nursing care provided by members of the care team.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, allied health professionals, and ancillary staff.
  • Advocate for patients and support informed healthcare decision-making.
  • Provide safe and effective patient handoffs using strong communication skills.
  • Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation according to hospital policies.
  • Contribute to positive patient and family experiences and address concerns appropriately.
  • Utilize electronic and automated information systems to support efficient patient care.
  • Complete all required organizational and annual competencies.
  • Perform required physical duties, including standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, kneeling, and twisting.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of acute-care nursing experience
  • ICU experience required
  • First-time travelers: Based on facility requirements

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN accepted.

  • Active California RN License
