  • Float Expectations: May float to like units or nearby locations within the assigned skill set; floating may be scheduled in advance

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • At least 2 years of recent Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or critical care nursing experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate degree or nursing certificate
  • Prior critical access hospital or rural healthcare experience is highly preferred
  • Epic electronic medical record experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work night shifts and participate in every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday rotations
  • Willingness to float to comparable units and respond to changing patient-care needs

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU/CCU
  • Assess patient conditions, recognize changes in clinical status, and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Safely administer medications and treatments while monitoring patient responses
  • Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Epic electronic medical record
  • Provide care for occasional pediatric surgical patients, including ENT or orthopedic cases, as appropriate
  • Float to comparable units or nearby locations within the nurse’s competency when needed
  • Participate in on-call or callback coverage when assigned, including potential low-census call-off situations
  • Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and high-quality care throughout each shift
